Kumquats are also known as dwarf oranges and are closely related to citrus fruits. The small fruits have a sweet skin and tart flesh. Our kumquats have been gently dried to exacting quality standards.

Properties & Manufacturing

• Fruit description: Kumquats are small citrus fruits characterized by their edible skin. While the skin is sweet, the flesh often has a pleasant, tart flavor.

• Manufacturing process:
• Starting product: Fresh kumquats are first thoroughly cleaned. The whole fruit is usually dried, preserving both the skin and the flesh.
• Drying: The fruits are dried gently – often by air drying or in controlled drying facilities at low temperatures – to preserve the natural taste and aromas as best as possible.
• Additives: no preservatives

Taste & consistency
• Taste: Dried kumquats retain the characteristic interplay of sweet peel and sour flesh, giving them an intense and balanced aroma.

• Consistency & Appearance:
• The drying process makes the fruits a little firmer and chewier, but they retain a pleasant bite.
• In terms of color, they often show warm, orange tones that are reminiscent of their fresh form.

Nutritional values & health aspects
• Vitamins & Fiber: Although some heat-sensitive vitamins (like vitamin C) may be reduced during drying, dried kumquats still provide valuable nutrients and fiber that aid digestion.
• Sugar: The natural sugar content of the kumquats is concentrated through the drying process, which contributes to a pleasant, sweet note.

Allergens & Special Instructions

• Allergen-free:
• Kumquats are one of the fruits that are generally low in allergens and do not contain any of the most common allergens (such as gluten, milk, soy or nuts).

Possible uses
• Snack & ingredient: Dried kumquats are ideal as a healthy snack, as an aromatic ingredient in muesli, salads, baked goods or even in tea blends – they give dishes a special sweet and sour note.
