The kiwifruit is a berry fruit and impresses with its sweet and sour flavor. Our kiwis are gently dried and sliced according to high quality standards. To enhance the aromatic sweetness of the kiwis, the high-quality slices are lightly coated with sugar.

Properties & Origin

• Fruit description: The kiwi is a small, oval fruit with a brown, slightly hairy skin and bright green, juicy flesh. The drying process intensifies the flavor, creating a sweet and sour note.

• Origin: Originally from China, the kiwi is now cultivated in various regions, including New Zealand, Italy, and the USA. Dried kiwi is a popular way to preserve the fruit for longer and use it as an energy-rich snack.

- Manufacturing process
• Selection & Preparation: Fresh kiwis are carefully selected, washed, and peeled. They are then sliced.

• Drying: The prepared kiwi slices are gently dried, often using air drying or low-temperature processes, to preserve as many natural vitamins and flavors as possible.

• Additives: small amounts of sugar.

Taste & consistency
• Taste: Dried kiwi offers a concentrated sweetness with a pleasant, slightly sour note that is typical of the fruit.

• Consistency: The drying process results in a chewy yet soft texture that is great as a snack on its own or in combination with other ingredients in muesli or baked goods.

Nutritional values & health aspects
• Vitamins & minerals: Kiwi is rich in vitamin C, potassium and antioxidants, although these nutrients may be more concentrated in dried form than in the fresh fruit.
• Fiber The drying process preserves a high proportion of fiber, which can benefit digestion.
• Sugar: The natural fruit sugars are concentrated during drying, which is why dried kiwi has a higher sugar content per unit weight than fresh kiwi.

Allergens & Special Instructions

• Allergen-free: Kiwi is one of the fruits that is generally low in allergens. However, some people may experience kiwi allergies (e.g., as part of oral allergy syndrome).

Possible uses

• Direct consumption: As a healthy snack between meals, on its own or in combination with other dried fruits.
• Culinary applications: In muesli, yogurt or salads
• As an ingredient in baked goods, desserts or cereal bars
• Rehydrated as a component in various recipes where a fruity, intense flavor is desired
